Tratado de Tordesillas
El Tratado de Tordesillas fue firmado en 1494 por España y Portugal con el objetivo de dividir los territorios descubiertos en América. Gracias a este acuerdo, Portugal obtuvo el control sobre Brasil, mientras que España se expandió por gran parte del continente americano.
Además, este tratado dividió el mundo en dos zonas de exploración y conquista. La línea imaginaria establecida permitió organizar la expansión de ambos imperios y definir sus dominios en el Nuevo Mundo.
El Tratado de Tordesillas tuvo una gran importancia en la historia colonial, ya que marcó el inicio de la expansión europea en América y cambió el desarrollo político, económico y cultural del continente.
Treaty of Tordesillas
The Treaty of Tordesillas was signed in 1494 by Spain and Portugal to divide the newly discovered territories in America. Through this agreement, Portugal gained control of Brazil, while Spain expanded across most of the American continent.
In addition, the treaty divided the world into two exploration and conquest zones. The imaginary line established by the agreement helped organize the expansion of both empires and define their territories in the New World.
The Treaty of Tordesillas played an important role in colonial history because it marked the beginning of European expansion in America and changed the political, economic, and cultural development of the continent.
