Buque escuela ARC Gloria
Ante usted se encuentra una maqueta a escala 1:10 del ARC Gloria, es decir, diez veces más pequeña que el buque original de la Armada Nacional de Colombia. Esta pieza fue elaborada por el equipo de maquetistas profesionales del Museo Naval del Caribe.
El video ubicado a la izquierda del módulo muestra el proceso de construcción del buque en el Astillero Celaya, en Bilbao, España. Allí también se registra su botadura, que contó con la participación de su madrina, Gloria Zawaski, viuda del ministro de defensa colombiano que autorizó su construcción. El recorrido audiovisual incluye además el momento de su abanderamiento y su primera singladura, hasta su llegada a Cartagena de Indias el 11 de noviembre de 1968.
Durante sus primeros 50 años de servicio, el ARC Gloria recorrió un total de 827.808 millas náuticas. En tiempo de navegación, acumuló 8.822 días en altamar, equivalentes a aproximadamente 24 años y medio de travesía
Training Ship ARC Gloria
Before you is a 1:10 scale model of the ARC Gloria, meaning it is ten times smaller than the original ship of the Colombian Navy. This model was crafted by the team of professional model makers at the Caribbean Naval Museum.
The video located to the left of the display shows the ship’s construction process at the Astillero Celaya shipyard in Bilbao, Spain. The video also documents its launch, which was attended by its godmother, Gloria Zawaski, the widow of the Colombian defense minister who authorized its construction. The audiovisual tour also includes the moment of its commissioning and its maiden voyage, up to its arrival in Cartagena de Indias on November 11, 1968.
